Our annual New Year Retreat is an amazing opportunity to start fresh. This day-long retreat includes five short teachings on mindfulness of breath, body, thought, emotion, and presence.
The peace and clarity you’re looking for is actually here already–right within you. Come learn how to find it.
Set yourself up for a prosperous year in every way.
9-9:15am Welcome & Orientation Together we establish our sitting space and set intentions for the day.
9:15-9:30 Teaching: Begin with Presence Everything begins with Presence: a state of consciousness beyond thought where we exist in the present moment. Presence gives us the ability to cut through the clutter of thought and conditioning to see things as they really are.
9:30-10:15am Silent Meditation Together, we sit in silence.
10:15-10:30am Teaching: Mindfulness of Breath Breath is the thread that connects the physical to the spiritual dimension. Breath is always with us, always available as an anchor to Presence.
10:30-11:15am Silent Meditation Together, we sit in silence.
11:15-11:30am Teaching: Mindfulness of Thought Brains secrete thoughts--that's what they do, just like salivary glands secrete saliva. What we often call anxiety and depression can also be understood as symptoms of the untrained mind. "To know yourself as the stillness underneath the mental noise, the love and joy underneath the pain, is freedom, salvation, enlightenment." -Eckhart Tolle
11:30am-12pm Silent Meditation Together, we sit in silence.
12:00-12:30 Lunch Together, we share a simple meal in mindfulness and gratitude.
12:30-12:45 Teaching: Mindfulness of Body The body is our most loyal and honest friend. The body holds every memory, thought, and belief in its tissues. Every experience is filtered through this conditioning. This makes the body our unquestionable compass to the subconscious beliefs that hold us hostage. When we honor our body as a beloved teacher, we uncover our unique path to healing and inner freedom.
12:45-1:30 Moving Meditation Together, we move in flow with a gentle yoga practice.
1:30-1:45 Teaching: Mindfulness of Emotion Emotions are the window to our subconscious and carry a vast intelligence. But most of us try to control and minimize our emotions rather than learning from them. When we allow our emotions to be just as they are, we can learn to observe them with loving curiosity and compassion. Our emotions will teach us what we need, what needs to be expressed, and how to find our next right step.
1:45-2:30 Silent Meditation Together, we sit in silence.
2:30-3:00 Final Sit & Optional Sharing Together, we sit, write, and have the opportunity to share.
